    What is inflammation?

    Inflammation is the body’s response to both acute or chronic exposure to substances that trigger the immune system. While healthy inflammation is the body’s response to injury, chronic inflammation can lead to diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, cancer, autoimmune diseases (thyroid, arthritis, etc), psychiatric disorders, or even Alzheimer’s.
