|There are some great tools to help relieve stress, pain, anxiety, trauma and other symptoms. One of these tools is quite simple to use. Tapping–not on your table top or by donning tap shoes–can provide relief from these symptoms as well as other negative emotions.|
|Tapping is the term used to indicate Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) or Thought Field Therapy (TFT). It works on key energy points along meridians in your body. Meridians are a complex system of energy pathways that flow throughout the human body. They deliver essential energy or ‘chi’ to each of our organs, including our nervous, circulatory, respiratory, immune, skeletal, muscular and digestive systems.|
Small blockages or imbalances of energy can occur throughout the body, which if left untreated has the potential to result in unpleasant symptoms depending on the location of the blockage. The idea, is that specific energy points may be blocked, leading to negative emotions and symptoms. You may be aware that acupressure and acupuncture also work though energy points. Using tapping can unblock where energy is stuck and negative emotions keep circling. The process is quite simple.
How does one get started tapping? As a tapping (EFT/TFT) practitioner, I help people learn how to tap, so that they can do this on their own. A practitioner can help guide people to become more specific on phrases that may be helpful for them as they tap to release negative emotion. As you become more comfortable with tapping, you may realize other specific areas of your life where you may be stuck and create new phrases where you can use tapping. There are also apps that are available to help people learn how to tap.
The reality is that you cannot feel gratitude and emotions at the same time. So, if you want to try something to complement or substitute other common practices to address negative thoughts and emotions such as meditation, yoga, journaling, try tapping.
