Honor your body and hydrate! 💦
Did you know that signs of dehydration don’t show up for 24 hours? Yep. So if you’re feeling thirsty today it means you actually didn’t drink enough water yesterday.
We have become a chronically dehydrated society. We spend tons of money at Starbucks dehydrating our bodies with caffeine, opt for soda, juices and so many other alternative beverages.
What happened to drinking just good old-fashioned water?
Every cell in your body needs water to function. If you’re always dehydrated then your cells can’t function properly making you susceptible to sickness, weight gain and fatigue.
To hydrate properly…
💧 Drink at least half your body weight in ounces of water – example 200 lbs = 100 oz
💧 Drink an extra 8 oz for every 30 min of exercise and/or cup of caffeinated beverage
💧 Eat fruits and veggies for electrolytes to retain the water for hydration
As part of the challenge start drinking half your body weight in ounces of water, if this seems like a lot then slowly increase it each day and herbal teas or carbonated water totally count too! Continue this habit for the next 14 days to improve health and feel your best!
Oh, and make sure you avoid plastic water bottles, which can leak toxins into your water. Use a glass or stainless steel-lined container. I put an herbal tea bag to cold steep or an organic powdered tea into my water bottle to keep up my hydration during the day if I feel the need for some flavor in my water.
